The Incredible Hulk

Davis likes to do the "Hulk" when he is frustrated and sometimes on command. My friend, Courtney's son used to do this when he was younger, too. Maybe its a boy thing.

The Perfect Picture

Okay, Come on now! I am getting all of these beautiful Christmas cards with sweet, pristine looking children, full of smocking and hair bows, perfect smiles and utter happiness. Did anyone out there have as much trouble acheiving the perfect photo of their little angel(s) as I did??? Please share. Here are some of the many photos taken to get to the card we actually sent...Enjoy. Oh, and notice the one where Parker refused to be in the picture, but we went on without her. We were laughing hysterically at this point, even though you
wouldn't know it based on my expression. Merry Christmas!!!

My Birthday

Yesterday, I turned 31. Crazy, right? It sounds so much older that 30. Well, I planned my day to be relaxing and fun, take Parker to gymnastics, hang out with my mom and go to lunch, then, dinner with Jerry that evening. Well, some of the day went as planned. I'm jumping ahead. Tuesday night before my b-day, Parker was having a 3 year old moment and got frustrated about something and swung a plastic baseball bat and hit me square in the face. (it was by accident, by the way.) It hit my nose so hard, I thought it was bleeding and Jerry said he heard it pop. Are you cringing, yet? So, after a few tears, (shed by me) I got over it. Next day, I look fine, by the evening I had two faint black eyes...on my birthday! I'm trying to make 31 look good, not so much, now. So, b-day morn, we went to gymnastics, then to lunch with my mom, so far so good despite the black eyes. Once we are home, Parker grabs the plastic card holder, fork thing, from some flowers my parents-in-law sent. She is twirling it around wildly and she stabs Hudson (our dog) in the eye!!! Now your cringing. He yelps and I didn't really see the whole thing and Parks told me she poked his cheek. About 5 minutes later, Hudson is sitting in the family room, holding one of his eyes closed. I took him to the vet. He has a deep "corneal abrasion," 2 types of antibiotics and 1 pain killer, and the vet suggests that we go to a dog opthamologist in East Memphis! Despite all that, getting caught in a rainy parking lot with no umbrella and 2 kids, Davis' "croc" bouncing under the middle of a car that I cannot reach, and having to take a rain check on dinner, my birthday was sweet. Parks and Jerry baked me a cake, My mother and father-in-law sent me flowers, I got 11 birthday phone calls, a new dishwasher, some amazing jewelry from my parents, Davis slept all night, and a card that Parker picked out herself. Oh, and a little happy from Amy. It was really funny. And as my best friend says when life throws a curve, "it is blog-able!"

Ornament Tag!!

So my sweet Amy tagged me to post my favorite Christmas ornaments hanging on my tree. What fun! I love decorating each year and getting to reminisce about days of yore and get all gushy about family and friends. I am a glass ornament girl, that is almost all I have. Thankfully the kids don't really play with the tree. Davis isn't much interested because he only wants things he can easily climb and conquer. Nevertheless, the important glass ornaments are up real high...just in case my little monkey feels like a conquest.

Okay, my first ornament is of Parker's hand in clay when she was 6 months.

The next ornament is of a glass car. It is Parker's first Christmas ornament. My mom got it for her because for her entire first year of life, she HATED the car seat. Whether it was a 5 minute drive down the street, or 11 hours to Iowa, she would scream like her leg was cut off. We tried everything, even putting a pool noodle under the car seat so it would angle it differently. I would just drive and cry along with her. Now, I can laugh about it.

The third ornament is a glass bunny in memory of Pearl, my late rabbit. She was a pet a got in college and I loved that rabbit so much. I fed her gourmet meals, daily. She was obese and cuddly and she got the name Pearl because she was white and round. She lived 8 years and died 3 months before Parker was born. Her nickname was Poon-dee. Doesn't that sound like a fat rabbit-y nickname?

Ornament 4 is a hand painted Russian Egg my father bought for me recently when he was on a business trip. He said he wanted to get me something just because he was thinking about me. That is why I like it, and that it is handmade, one of a kind.

Ornament 5 is an ornament my late grandmother, Bonnie Allen gave me that was hanging on her tree when she was young. It is a glass ball, very simple and tarnished a bit. It has to be at least 60 years old.

Ornament 6 is a clay cross my mom gave to me this year. I love it because it is made by an artist and it is the entire reason we celebrate this beautiful time of year. Hallelujah, what a Savior!

Parker loves dressing up and dressing down

Here is my little mermaid. She loves to play dress up. But she also loves to strip down naked in a flash! We were eating over at a friends house to other night. Parker was eating in the family room with her pint-sized friend, while the rest of us were eating in the kitchen. Jerry went into the family room and there was Parker, naked, at someone else's house, enjoying her meal. It makes me laugh, it makes Jerry nervous for days to come

Davis...bottomless

Last time I let him do this, he pooped on the floor and slipped in it. It was on his forehead, all over his sock feet and tons of it on me as I carried him to the tub. Thank goodness he had the "passy" or who knows where it could've ended up. Oh, who can resist those cheeks?

Can you believe it??

Hey everyone! Well, I did it. I started a blog, thanks to some persuasion by Jennifer and Amy. Today we had much motivation to decorate for Christmas because both children slept last night!!! That is so rare. We put up the tree, Jerry and Davis sped around the house in Davis' little car, Parker and I baked spice cake and we went shopping. It is amazing how much one can accomplish with a bit of sleep. Here are the pictures from today. Check out Parker's Hannah Montana Jammies. She loves her and we've only seen her show once.
